As the leading provider of foster care services, Centene has unparalleled experience across the country in not only administering contracts for the child welfare and foster care populations, but also in our national expertise and partnership approach with the communities we serve.

Our experience in foster care began in Texas in 2008 when we became the first managed care organization (MCO) to have a sole statewide managed care contract for this vulnerable population. A sole statewide contract means that a state has selected one MCO to manage its entire foster care population and is the preferred model recommended to all states by Centene. Centene currently manages five sole statewide contracts.

Centene helps to manage foster care in 16 additional states and currently serves over 270,000 children nationwide.
